National Student Survey
NSS 2022
According to feedback from the National Student Survey 2022:
Worcester students continue to comment on the positive aspects of their experience. These include:
- the excellent quality of teaching and support provided by staff
- the strong application of theory to practice
- the knowledge of and passion for their subject displayed by staff
- the support received for blended and online learning at the University
As part of the ongoing improvements and reflection on student comments throughout the last year, we have made the following changes:
In relation to your academic experience, we are:
-
- Establishing a Personal Academic Tutor Lead in each School and a forum (with SU representation) to share best practice on PAT
- Reducing the number of classes timetabled into the late evening and reviewing timetables for impact on student travel
- Working with the Students’ Union to develop and support new academic societies across all subject areas
- Further developing support for students in relation to employability skills and career planning through MyCareer
To facilitate better access to support for health and well-being support, we are:
-
- Redesigning Welcome Week to be inclusive of students who commute and with a specific focus on making friends
- Holding induction and welcome activities for our students who arrive in January
- Providing the CallMy app that students can use in the event of an emergency on campus to summon help and TalkWorc - our 24/7 text support service with Shout
To help with the cost of living, we are:
-
- Installing microwaves and kettles across campus to allow students to ‘Heat and Eat’
- Hosting Repair Cafes to support our sustainability agenda as well as helping to manage costs for students
- Enabling more students to join Clubs and Societies through the ‘Get Involved’ initiative which provides £50 towards memberships
In relation to assessment and feedback, we have taken a number of steps:
-
- Introducing lecture capture technology
- Development of ‘how to videos’ to help students use the VLE (Blackboard) and Turnitin
- Guidance for staff on what ‘good feedback’ on assessments looks like
- Reviewing our Library Service Standards to continue to improve the service we provide to students
